APRIL 19 -11:00 am PRESS CONFERENCE
At Pond 3, 571 Polo Club Drive
Polo Club residents will be speaking with the press, along with Save Barton Creek Alliance, about the wastewater permit.

Please come out and support the Save Our Ponds effort and most importantly our neighbor from Mallet Ct., Lulu Cambronne who will be representing us at the press conference. Lulu is a molecular scientist and assistant professor at UT, a mom of two, married to Eric and lives on the ponds. She will be representing ALL of our interests in keeping our ponds safe and beautiful, and addressing whether or not the TCEQ has followed protocol when granting the draft permit for the dumping of treated sewage into our ponds.

Read her draft statement here:

Also, you can just show up and support or there may be an opportunity for the press to ask questions of us. If you've got something to say, SHOW UP.

The key points to remember are:

  1. There is a flaw in the permit. The Polo Club was not visited by the TCEQ that we know of. We are described in the application as an 'unnamed tributary with limited aquatic life.' We feel they did not come out and do a comprehensive analysis of our ponds, their use, their wildlife and aquatic life or how they will be affected in the months during drought.

  2. There is no need to dump this sewage. Other businesses in the area use septic and disperse the effluent onto their own land. We do know by having a permit to dump the sewage he can attract a potentially bigger buyer. But then just of it is, no one has to win or lose here if he just chose to do the right thing.

  3. There is a huge safety concern here. Our ponds do not 'flow' like a creek would and therefore, the partially treated sewage would sit there, especially in summer months. With our kids and animals using these ponds, we are worried about the affect these chemicals could have on them.

APRIL 20th -9:15am HAYS TRINITY GROUNDWATER ASSOCIATION
HTGA will be walking the ponds with their scientists looking for leaks in the ponds that could ultimately pass contaminants into the aquifer if this bill passes.
APRIL 20 -7:0OPM PUBLIC CALL W/TCEQ
This is your opportunity to listen and ask questions to the TCEQ and the developer, Stephen Cleveland. There will be an informal statement period where comments will NOT be recorded for public record and then a FORMAL statement period where comments will be recorded. This is not a zoom call but a webinex so not faces on camera except for those of the TCEQ and Mr. Cleveland.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT OUR PROPERTY VALUE OR OUR 'FEELINGS.' To reverse this bill, we need to argue that there has not been a study of our ponds to know how this sewage will affect them. They have categorized our ponds as an 'unnamed tributary with limited aquatic life.' We are working to point out that their description and analysis of our ponds is faulty.
